SOUTH ASIA (ANS) -- Masara Doshi had a wonderful life. The then 81-year-old woman lived in good health; her family loved her; and even after her husband's death in 2001, she was cared for well.

But one morning in 2004, Masara woke up and couldn't move her legs. She was paralyzed from the waist down.

The whole family was shocked. Masara had been in perfect health up until that day. Her sons immediately brought her to one temple after another, asking the priests to pray and offer sacrifices for her healing. The family also met with witch doctors, and they gave Masara special pills to take. Time went by, and they realized Masara wasn't getting any better-she was getting worse.

Her immune system became weak, and her good health gave way to many different sicknesses. She eventually lost much of her sight and her hearing. Before long, Masara gave up hope and waited to die.

Her family was brokenhearted because of her suffering, but they didn't know what to do or who to turn to for help.

Messengers of Hope

In early 2011, however, two women walked into their village carrying Good News of great joy. Until that day, no one in the village had ever heard of Jesus Christ.

The two Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries, Benita Viswanathan and Esther Singh, knocked on Masara's door. They began telling her sons and daughters-in-law about the Lord's love for them. When Benita and Esther explained that Christ not only forgives people of their sins but also has the power to heal them, a flicker of hope arose in the family's hearts.

Masara's son Ojas began describing his mother's condition to the women and asked them to come inside the house to see her. Benita shared the Good News with Masara, and Esther prayed for her healing. Just before they left, they gave Masara a New Testament.

Women of Prayer

Benita and Esther continued ministering in that village for another week, the whole time fasting and praying for Masara's healing.

Although the Lord did not immediately heal Masara, He continued to work in her heart and in the hearts of her family members. Just days after the women missionaries left the village, He gave the family the faith to trust Him with their lives.

Benita and Esther persisted in prayer for Masara, and the Lord completely healed the elderly woman of her paralysis, vision problems, hearing impairments and sicknesses!

Masara, at 88 years old, actively shares the grace she has found in Jesus Christ with others who have not heard. She has an especially powerful testimony because of the respect her culture gives to elders.

Nearly everyone in her village is interested in knowing more about Christ because of the miracle He performed in her life. And, despite their culture's hostility toward Christianity, 22 villagers have embraced the love of God.

Please pray for Masara's village, that many more people will come to know the Lord's love for them. Please also pray for the ministry of Benita and Esther, that the Lord would continue to bless them.

Perfect for evangelism and originally an e-book, this book addresses every possible question or doubt about Christianity by combining facts, evidence and the truth with biblical principles. This book has the reader examine what is truth, does God exist, can we trust the Bible, did the resurrection really happen, and who did Jesus claim to be. Then by giving a twelve-point conclusion the author ends the journey with a pathway to salvation. Keep several copies of this one in your car, you'll want to hand them out to everyone you meet!

The author states in his opening paragraph of the book, "It's not about religion, it's about truth." The author goes on to explain his purpose for writing the book being that the, "…objective evidence must be considered in order to make an informed decision." Otherwise believing something because your parents believe it, relying on emotions or believing something to be true because you believe it to be true does not make it true; this is called "blind faith," as the author emphatically states. Author, Theresa Franklin does a wonderful job in administering to the heart of families and encouraging families to stick together in love through this fictional short story. We all know what our lives look from the outside. But when we examine our family life from the inside, more than we like to admit, one will find dysfunction in the home. When we come to a place of acknowledging our sins and confessing them to God, God can work on our behalf. The author asks these important questions and urges us all to spend, "…time in front of God's mirror and try to see what those who know you best actually see? Are you a Christian? Have you accepted Christ as your savior?" In that, the author is asking, are you walking the walk and talking the talk? So many people profess to be Christians, but as Christians we should be exhibiting love, respect and service to our families in the home as well. If not, this book will lead the way to a new path of wholeness in Christ for families.

Driven by emotions, control, negativity, judgment and perfectionism, Cynthia is in complete denial of her behavior towards her family members. Severely affected, the husband is miserable, and her children avoid her as much as possible. Inevitably when there is dysfunction in the home, the author states, the stress can be measured in emotional and physical illnesses. Although the book is a fictional story, the author has described a very real and believable picture of how life is in our own families sometimes. The Owens family is torn from the inside out, due to stresses from the contention and discord caused by one family member suffering from deep emotional wounds caused from her own dysfunctional childhood.

This book is truly a blessing to families and the body of Christ. The author, through the use of scriptures and examples of family life, paints a wonderful picture of how life can be through the love and redemption of Jesus Christ. The author promotes family in this story of healing and encourages others, that "…love covereth a multitude of sins." Families will find solace and comfort through this book. Theresa's Franklin's writing style flows smoothly making for an easy read, keeping the reader fully engaged. This book will minister to all families that are "less than perfect." A highly recommend, encouraging read that will impact others for Christ. God can work in any situation, as the author illustrates, even the impossible ones.

Setting a firm biblical perspective and foundation for an acceptable, in order relationship, the author goes on to describe the process of a healthy progression of a relationship, once a mate has been chosen. Using the example of a house and the various rooms, the author, exemplifies what exactly you should look for in a mate and how to proceed. OK, we have laws that state that you can't use your cell phone while driving. Thank God because there's nothing worse than being behind someone that's talking on a cell phone while driving. So what about driving and make up. Have you ever seen that one? Your driving along and the lady in front of you has her eyeball stuck in the rear view mirror as she's stroking her eye lashes. It's funny actually because most of the time the gal is so into her eyelash that she doesn't have the foggiest idea that she is even driving until you honk the horn and she tattoo's her whole face with the eye lash brush. Even funnier is how they adjust their face as their stroking the eyelash, as if no one else in on the freeway.

I just wonder how many accidents have been caused by those last minute insecurity adjustments.

Have you ever noticed how sometimes people's true colors shine through and the colors are the complete opposite of what they wanted you and others to think about them? Only to realize that you have been handed a continuous flow of deception and lies? It amazes me how some people use and abuse others basically to make up for their own miserable worthless lives. Many times you can even see the fruits of such people in their children do to the dysfunctional family and dysfunctional family lifestyle. It's sad because their lives are filled with endless scares, headaches, and metal illnesses and the affects upon the children lead to emotional problems, anger management problems, guilt, shame, embarrassments, and they become disconnected from reality.

Know this, they do not go un noticed and while they think they have pulled the wool over the eye's of many, in time, they will be exposed. You see, those who cast evil and wickedness upon others in the end become ensnared in their own ways. Life becomes endlessly painful for them, they continue to encounter emotional, mental and even health problems that soon overtake them. It's really sad to see a life and the lives of others waste away and decay like that. It's a long, slow and very painful death, yet death is withheld from them.

Sometimes we all seem to give up and quit just a tad too soon. It's like the sardines vs. the tuna. We plan our game plan, put things into motion and then right about the time it's time to set sail, we give in and quit. Sad. Other times we do all our homework, put our plans into motion and start bragging about our accomplishments before we win the race only to give up because something fell short of our desires. The reality is that success is staying the course and finishing what we set out to do.

Now who would want a bucket of sardines when you could have some huge nets filled with tuna? Imagine the captain of a ship setting sail for a big catch, for tons of tuna only to set anchor just outside the break water. Can you see the sea gulls feasting on the spoiled sardines? Many times that is exactly what we do. Rather than staying the course and sometimes even facing our fears, we throw in the towel.

There is more to writing sayings that pushing them or selling them to others. You must live them. Otherwise your flame burns out.
